Stopping Email Impersonation Before It Starts

Email is still the number one way attackers try to trick people. Fake “from” addresses, spoofed messages, and phishing attempts are designed to look like they came straight from you. That is where DMARC comes in.

This June, ITGuys rolled out DMARC implementation for all customer domains that do not already have it in place.

Why We Do It

Without DMARC, cybercriminals can spoof your domain and send emails that look legitimate to customers, vendors, or even your own staff. That opens the door to fraud, phishing, and brand damage.

With DMARC, receiving mail servers know exactly how to handle suspicious messages that pretend to come from you. The result:

  • Fake emails get blocked or flagged.
  • Real messages are trusted and delivered.
  • Your brand reputation stays protected.

It is like putting a stamp of authenticity on every email your company sends.

How It Works

Here’s what we did this June:

  • Checked every supported domain to see if a DMARC policy was set.
  • For domains missing DMARC, we encouraged customers to let us implement it.
  • Configured DMARC records to align with SPF and DKIM, giving email systems the tools they need to validate messages.
  • Rolled out policies at the right pace, starting with monitoring before enforcement, to avoid false positives.

What Customers See

Most of this work is invisible. You keep sending and receiving email as usual. But behind the scenes, email systems now have a rulebook:

  • Spoofed messages pretending to be you are rejected.
  • Real mail flows through cleanly.
  • Delivery issues are reduced since your domain is aligned with modern standards.

The Results

By the end of June:

  • Domains without DMARC policies were identified and flagged.
  • Customers were given the option to have ITGuys implement DMARC at either a discounted rate or included in their support plan, depending on support level.
  • Implementations were started for customers who approved the service.

The result: safer, cleaner, more trustworthy email communication across customer domains.

Why It Matters for You

DMARC is not just another acronym. It means:

  • Trust: Recipients know your emails are authentic.
  • Security: Attackers cannot spoof your domain as easily.
  • Savings: Normally a $299 service, provided this month at either a discount or included with support.
  • Compliance: Many industries now expect DMARC as a baseline standard.

It is one of the simplest, most effective ways to boost security and credibility.

Looking Ahead

As more businesses adopt DMARC, spoofing attacks will become less effective. ITGuys will continue monitoring domain policies, adjusting enforcement levels, and making sure customer email stays protected.

Final Word

June’s project was about trust in communication. By offering DMARC implementation for all domains at a reduced or included cost, ITGuys is making sure every customer has the protection they need against impersonation.

Email is the front door of your business. DMARC makes sure no one else is using your keys.
