What does your website say about you?
Websites are many times the very first impression that a person will have about you, or your company. And in a world wide web where image is everything, a person may deterred by something as simple as hard to read font, or a high contrast background. At ITGuys, we’ve been helping business across Colorado for almost a decade. We’ve help many people grow their business with web marketing and brilliant design that makes sites standout from the rest.
Let us build the website that is right for you. Your website can mean many things. It can be informative, it can display your portfolio, explain a product, or any number of possibilities. But all sites help inspire confidence in the people that are viewing it. It’s what gets your audience to pick up the phone, to send an email, click buy, or tell their friends about it. Without that confidence, there’s not much reason to have a website at all.
Have you ever navigated to a strange place on the web and found yourself looking at a page that you wish you’d never seen? No? You’re lucky then. Here’s what we mean:
Too many fonts, colors, and a poor layout
This is a perfect example of a very confusing site. There’s so much going on it’s hard to know where to look. There is little information, several kinds of fonts, it’s murder on the eyes.
It’s hard to tell from the picture but this site is filled with gifs (moving cartoons) and sounds that assault other senses too. From the mashup collage images to the …I want to say blurry banner background, there’s so much wrong with this page it’s difficult to find anything positive to say about it. Other than someone must have had a lot of fun making it.
Print ads gone digital
Another stellar example of an impossible to read page. I see what they did here. They tried to make it like a catalog. But there’s a certain format for sites, and breaks all of the rules. This site is far wide than it is long, not mobile friendly, and has several colors of texts to make it impossible to read. On top of that there’s so many unoptimized pictures that it takes forever to load, and that essentially kills any hope of being found in search engines.
This is a real site. Why though? This is a site trying to inform people about a product called Penny Juice, but good luck finding it. Amongst the myriad of colors, and visual assault this site has committed, you won’t find a call to action anywhere. No phone number, no email, just many colors and most of them terrible.
This site has what we call “Too Much Text” syndrome. It’s common when there’s a lot of data to convey. It’s important to break up a site with pictures or breaks so that the reader can digest what they’re looking at. While they may have a great product, beautiful gates, I question their design abilities.
Harmony on opposite day
For a site about harmony and Feng Shui, this site is awfully chaotic and not calming at all. With double side bars, several videos, a multicolor navigation and collage of a header, this may be the worst site ever built.
Website in a bottle, that should have stayed there
I can tell from context this website has something to do with bottles, but couldn’t for the life of me tell you what. Hard to read text on hard to read backgrounds makes the internet an unhappy place.
This an HTML site that’s still around today. As you can see, there’s not much text on the homepage, there’s many other problems with scrunched images, and poorly formatted navigation. But the worst part is this may actually be a service many people could use. But with a site like this, it’s hard to inspire confidence in prospective customers.
